The Arcam airDAC is an excellent way of adding AirPlay and UPnP support to your hi-fi or audio system, and we were pleased to find all the necessary cables supplied in the box.

Low frequencies, while controlled, are absolutely as chunky and imposing as they want to be, but that gentle caveat aside the Arcam's air of unquestionable authority shines through.

I called to my fav. HiFi store yesterday to outline the problem and walked out with an Arcam irDAC. I connected it all up when I got home, passing USB from the PC and coax from the squeezebox into the Arcam and plugging the analog outs into the processor in bypass mode (as direct as I can get from DAC to power amp).

At £400, it comes in at the same price as the company’s excellent five-star irDAC – but compare the two and, well, the irDAC wins every time in terms of pure audio prowess. I connect the AirDac to my amplifier via coax cable and the resulting sound is great. I have not suffered drop outs as per previous reviewers - the app is a little buggy for me and also does not let me know the bit rate of the music I am playing. so I use the app that's bundled with my Synology NAS (audio station- it also does not let me see the bit rate but seems more relatable on my network).

A gap of three years between releases has 2020-05-29 Sadly, the Arcam does not recognize the iPod Classic, a mainstay of many audiophiles, so perhaps the company will address this in a future firmware update.
